Counseling for Midlife & Beyond

Support through the second half life for retirement, an empty nest, loss and life's biggest transitions.

There is an unacceptable gap in mental health support for people 50 and older.

When I share that I love working with adults in the second half of life, people often assume I work in nursing homes or assisted living. They don't picture an active, healthy person in their late 60s who is still working and may also be caring for a parent or spouse. They don't picture the person adjusting to the all-encompassing changes that come with retirement, who didn't expect to feel so lost. They don't picture the person who looked forward to a retirement full of travel, rest and time with their partner, but instead finds themselves grieving their spouse and learning to live alone. They don't picture the couple whose last child just moved out, sitting across from each other in a quiet house, wondering who they are now.

This stage of life brings some of the biggest transitions we ever face: retirement, an empty nest, the loss of a spouse or partner, divorce after decades of marriage, becoming the oldest generation in your family, or caring for aging parents while still working. These are not small adjustments. They arrive with no roadmap and little support as they reshape your days, your relationships and your identity.

Adults in this stage deserve compassionate, professional mental health support tailored to this specific time of life. And it's understandable to want a clinician with maturity and life experience, someone who sees not only the current struggle but the whole person, with a lifetime of wisdom behind them. Someone who understands what this chapter actually asks of you.

This is a space where your needs are not invisible, and where your whole self will be honored.
